The Smocked Dress with Crochet Collar from Emile et Ida. Vermilion cotton dress. In contrast to the flat back, the front of the dress is delicately worked. Lying pleats punctuate the height and width of the dress. They are held in place by three lines of beige smocking, right down to the bust. From the last line onwards, the pleats are free and the dress expresses its fullness. The scalloped collar around the round neckline is crocheted in ecru cotton thread and embroidered with bunches of vermilion-red cherries. The sleeves are long and tightened by a fine buttoned cuff. The blouse opens all the way down the back and, like the cuffs, closes with natural mother-of-pearl buttons. A brightly colored, vitamin-rich dress to wear on gray days.
