A very sweet tale ~
I met this pint sized Spanish designer 6 years ago at Playtime NY as a fashion editor ~ she had this insane swimwear that I couldn’t help but to stop and look (no, stare) at. So well constructed, so beautifully designed minimal and chic, but also completely different than any other children’s line I had seen in a while. We started chatting and I immediately noticed a few things about Cristina Fernandez, the architect behind
Little Creative Factory. She has a warm infectious smile, the kind of energy you can feel embracing you before she does, and her mind works in a truly creative genius sort of way. The ideas just pour out of her – not just about what pieces to put in a collection, but the story behind it, and the best way to illustrate that story down to the last stitch, the last detail. We were at Balthazar having a champagne brunch the very next day 🙂 When I left, I knew we would work together in some capacity someday ~ her collections are what a stylist’s dreams are made of. I’m happy to say we’ve become dear friends too and I’m so pleased to introduce her SS20 collection to the shop.
Always seemingly inspired by fairy tales and fantasy, Cristina Fernandez leans into this SS20 season with her Twisted Tales Collection. Invoking everything from Lewis Carroll to Tim Burton, this Spring wardrobe trunk bursts with diamond top hats, long fairy coats, big baggy pants in bold, check patterns and neon dresses that swing, sitting alongside cool cotton tees, soft denim linens and ultra comfy quilted tops and bottoms. The star color is neon orange both bright and washed out (bringing me straight back to my Esprit days circa ’82).
Little Creative Factory is available online now and we’ll be diving into all things LCF with Cristina and her daughter Ona on @thelittleredplanet_shop LIVE early this week. We also have some exciting news regarding our summer pop ups starting this coming weekend in the Hamptons so again, please follow us on instagram for updates.
Be healthy, stay safe and hope to see you soon!
